WROCLAW ART GATE

A Mural as a Visual Gateway to Historic Wrocław
“Gate of Art” – Mural Installation at Więzienna 17, Wrocław
We envision not merely a mural, but a portal — a visual illusion that opens a dreamlike passage into an imagined city. A place that does not exist on any map, yet feels deeply familiar to anyone who loves Wrocław. This is more than paint on a wall; it is storytelling in the language of perspective, shadow, and light.

This project presents a proposed mural design for a designated wall space, created by mural artist Yevhen Trofymchuk. The visualization is based on the real dimensions and architectural context of the wall, ensuring a precise and realistic representation of the final result.
Wall Mural Visualization Project.
At first glance, the mural appears to be an architectural continuation of the building itself — an archway sculpted from stone, leading to a vibrant street of colorful facades, sunlit alleys, and ascending stairways. But step closer, and the viewer realizes: this space does not exist. It is a moment of visual poetry, painted illusion, an invitation to imagine.
This mural transforms a blank, aging wall into a gateway of inspiration. It becomes a canvas of civic pride, a photographic landmark, and a cultural intervention in the very heart of the historic center. Every passerby becomes a traveler. Every camera captures not just a wall, but a story — one that speaks of Wrocław’s layered identity: historic yet modern, grounded yet imaginative.
The technique — inspired by trompe-l'œil — deceives the eye while engaging the mind. This style, rooted in European art history, finds new expression here as urban revitalization. It redefines the space without erasing it — preserving the soul of the building while transforming its presence.
This is not only a mural.
It is a mirror of the city’s creativity.
A dialogue between stone and sky.
A gate through which culture walks.

At the heart of the historic center, this large, bare side wall stands neglected and dull — a forgotten surface in an otherwise vibrant part of the city. Surrounded by overgrown grass and empty space, the area feels abandoned and uninspired.

Walls like this are a missed opportunity. With the right mural, this space could be transformed into a landmark — a place of beauty, meaning, and pride for residents and visitors alike. Urban art not only revives forgotten corners but also tells the story of a city that values creativity and public space.
